There are several activities you can do on your rest day. Rent a motorbike (Mr. Ku at the Travel Lodge) or bike (Green Climbers Home or Greendiscovery) or book a Trekking tour with Greendiscovery.
Caves:
• Tham Xang (Milestone km 2 from Thakhek, turn right,
then follow the dirt road for 2,5km through a village)
• Tham Xieng Liab (Milestone km 11 from Thakhek)
• Tham Pha Pa (Buddha Cave, km 4 from Thakhek, turn left,
then follow the dirt road for 8,5 km)
• Tham Sa Pha Inh (km 11,5 from Thakhek)
• Tham Nang Aen (km 16 from Thakhek)
Lake :
• Tha Falang (Milestone km 11 from Thakhek, turn left,
then follow the dirt road for 1 km)
